Shopmobility
We are part of the national Shopmobility scheme renting out scooters and wheelchairs to use around Plymouth City Centre. The service is available to residents and visitors to Plymouth regardless of whether their disability is permanent or temporary.
The first time you use us you will need to book an appointment for a familiarisation session. This will enable us to make sure you have the right equipment and we are happy that you know how to use it. You will also be given instructions about the areas in Plymouth City Centre where it is safe to go. As part of your training, you will need to register with us and agree to our terms and conditions.
It is essential that you call or e-mail us in advance to book your familiarisation session. If you arrive without an appointment and there is no one on site to train you, you will not be able to go out on a scooter.
To join our Shopmobility scheme there is a twelve month membership fee of £15. All equipment is then £7 per day. Visitors to Plymouth can sign up to a short term membership for three weeks costing £6.
We have a private car park for customers charged at £3 a day.

Access Plymouth also has a satellite scheme in Drake Circus where equipment is available for hire within the shopping mall only. To use powered equipment you must produce a valid Shopmobility membership card as well as a form of ID. Please note that full parking charges apply at Drake Circus.
Long Term Equipment Hire
We offer a variety of mobility equipment for long term hire, including wheelchairs, portable mobility scooters and walkers. These are available for daily, weekly or longer rentals.
To ensure the right fit for your needs, please contact us in advance to make a reservation.
Equipment can be collected from our Shopmobility office in the Mayflower East car park, Monday to Friday, 09:15 – 16:00.
A refundable deposit is required at booking, and while we offer local rentals, we cannot provide equipment for use outside the UK.
Wheelchairs require a £10 refundable deposit and are then £6 for a day, £24 for a weekend hire (Friday-Monday) and £40 for a week.
Mobility scooters require a £50 refundable deposit and are £17 for a day, £50 for a weekend (Friday-Monday) and £80 for a week.
