Why making a Will is important –
Advice from the Citizens Advice Bureau

The Citizens Advice Bureau advises it is important for you to make a Will. Here’s why:
  • Avoid unwanted distribution: Without a Will, your money, property, and possessions will be divided according to strict legal rules, which may not reflect your wishes.
  • Protect unmarried partners: Unmarried couples or those not in a registered civil partnership cannot inherit from each other unless a Will is in place. This could leave the surviving partner in financial difficulty.
  • Provide for Children: A Will allows you to specify arrangements for your children should one or both parents pass away.
  • Minimise inheritance tax: With proper planning and a Will, you make be able to reduce the inheritance tax your estate has to pay.
  • Adapt to life changes: Significant life events – such as separation, remarriage, or entering a civil partnership – can affect your Will. It is important to update it to reflect your current situation and intentions.

Why Leave a Legacy?

  • Support essential transport services for vulnerable individuals.

The receipt of the Secretary or another authorised officer shall be sufficient to my Executors.”

Gift of Residuary Estate

The remainder of your estate can be left to our charity, either entirely or alongside other organisations.

If you would like to leave us a residual legacy, you can use the following wording: –
